Down to Fangirl Podcast September Show Notes

Welcome to the Down to Fangirl podcast show notes! I’m going to try a new format for podcast notes because I suck at getting them done on a weekly basis. That just ain’t gonna happen. So this way there will be 4-5 episodes gathered together with all the links you need to check out our favorite things!

Episode 12, 8/30/17

Reading: I recommended Carry On by Rainbow Rowell while Brianna enjoyed A Night Divided by Jennifer Nielsen. We also mentioned the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.

Listening to: Brianna is obsessed with the new Bleachers album. I binged the Twilight movie episodes of the Yeah it’s That Bad podcast.

Watching: In order to fully appreciate  YITB, I watched some of the Twilight moves. Brianna is a little more refined and has been watching Halt and Catch Fire.

Episode 13, 9/5/17

Reading: We discussed our September Book Club selection, Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, which Brianna enjoyed so much she had already moved on to Pretties. I was in the middle of the Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee but was struggling to finish (and as of writing this still have not finished it).

Listening to: I was (and still am) listening to the Fansplaining podcast.

Watching: Brianna talked about the baseball drama Brockmire while I binged Reign. And we finished up our season long discussion of Game of Thrones.

Episode 14, 9/1/17

Reading: Brianna rounded out the Uglies series with Specials while I breezed through Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon. We also announced our October Book Club selection, The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli.

Listening to: I found a new nerdy podcast called Desi Geek Girls.

Watching: Brianna updated us on Outlander before we both got drunk and watched Zenon Girl of the 21st Century.

Episode 15, 9/18/17

Reading: I loved Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.

Listening to: Brianna found a new (to her) podcast called 99% Invisible. I’ve been listening to a lot of Something Rotten to prep for their LA tour.

Watching: We both watched and discussed the 2017 Emmy’s.

Instagramming: This was the first week of our What’s Up Instagram addition. Brianna talked about her favorite @joythebaker while I mentioned the hilarious @overheardla.

Episode 16, 9/28/17

Reading: I mostly enjoyed Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir, though it did lead to a YA romantic tropes rant. Brianna had mixed but mostly good feelings about Dark Matter by Blake Crouch.

Listening to: A whole lot of nothing this week!

Watching: I dominated the watching conversation this week, as I finished Reign, started Veep, and went back to an old favorite, Sex and the City. We also discussed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Instagramming: This week I talked about one of my favorite Disney accounts @mindyjoym and Brianna mentioned one of her many dog accounts @roofusandkilo.

Whew. That’s a lot of info for you! Hope you enjoyed this month’s episodes! As always, please download, subscribe and leave us a review!

Down to Fangirl Show Notes: Episodes 6 and 7

Hi friends, and sorry I have taken so long to get these show notes put together! But thank you so much for checking out the Down to Fangirl podcast! We’re going to cover two episodes in one post here since I am so behind. We’ll start with Episode 6, which aired way back on July 19th. Here’s what we covered:

Our current reads were The Siren by Kiera Cass (Falon) and Graceling by Kristin Cashore (Brianna). I have read both books, and they are both great reads.

Brianna mentioned how much she is loving the new Anna Faris podcast, hilariously titled Anna Faris is Unqualified, where she and celebrity friends give relationship advice to total strangers. I have been listening to another fangirl podcast, called Fangirl Fridays, which features tons of fun episodes about 90’s and early 2000’s throwback fandoms (I still heart you JTT).

Last week on Episode 7, I talked about two books I recently finished reading, Champion by Marie Lu and Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I loved both and will be writing more about them soon in this month’s What I Read post.

I also talked about two shows I recently watched season finales of, West World and Supergirl. Another two thumbs up for both. Brianna and I will be talking West World details in a couple of weeks.

Brianna has been listening to a super cool new scripted podcast called Homecoming, that I am definitely going to be checking out soon. I have been hearkening back to Hamilton, since I am going to be seeing the show for the second time in just a couple of weeks (and I’m just a little bit excited about it).

And some exciting (I hope) news for you guys: We are going to be releasing new episodes on Tuesdays instead of Wednesdays for the foreseeable future! We would really love it if you would download, subscribe and leave us a review! Also, don’t forget to check us out on Instagram, @dtfangirlpod! Thanks for tuning in!

Down to Fangirl Podcast Episode 5

Hello lovelies and welcome to another week of Down to Fangirl! There was much Game of Thrones goodness to cover this week as we all get ready for the big season seven premiere in just two days! We chatted all about episodes nine and ten of season six and made a few predictions as to what we think (or hope) we’ll see in the upcoming season.

We also shared our current reads with you. I just finished The Program by Suzanne Young and Brianna is finally reading A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas (better known as A Court of Wanting a Rhysand…which we all do). Highly recommend both books!

Brianna is currently listening to the OBC album of Anastasia, which I need to get on ASAP. I’ve been having a throwback moment to my high school days and jamming to the Backstreet Boys. Don’t judge.

Next week is going to be epic as we cover our thoughts on the Game of Thrones season seven premiere, and the brand new Fantasmic, which we’ll be seeing on Monday. Please check out my Instagram for pics from Disneyland! And please don’t forget to download, subscribe, and leave us a five star rating! See you next week!

Down to Fangirl Podcast Episode 4

Hello DTF podcast listeners! We had an episode full of fangirly goodness for you this week, starting with some of our current happs. This week we have a couple of books recommendations, and a couple of new podcasts for you to check out!

I just finished Eliza and Her Monsters and absolutely loved it, while Brianna is finally being inducted into the ACOTAR fandom. Both books are excellent and we definitely recommend checking them out!

We also have two podcasts to recommend to you guys. I recently discovered the Broadwaysted podcast, which for its name alone, deserves a shining plaque in the podcast hall of fame, if that were actually a thing. Brianna talked about one of her favorite podcasts, Call Your Girlfriend, which is awesome, especially for our super cool, feminist chick audience members out there.

Our first order of business this week was to discuss our first book club selection, Alex and Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz. Please tune in to hear our (many) thoughts on the novel! We also announced our next book club novel, which is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. We will be publishing our next book club episode on August 2nd, so make sure you read the book before then!

And we continued on with our Game of Thrones season six recap series, talking episodes six through eight. If you are behind on GoT you need to catch up now as the season seven premiere is right around the corner!

Please make sure you tune in next week as we prepare for the Game of Thrones season seven premiere! And always, don’t forget to download and subscribe, and please leave us a review! See you next week!

DTF Episode Two Show Notes

Hello friends (and hopefully listeners) and welcome to the second installment of the Down to Fangirl podcast. This week Brianna and I shared all of our feels associated with the amazing Wonder Woman. Then we took you through the major plot points of Game of Thrones season six, episodes one and two. We hope to get you all caught up on last season’s big events before the season seven premiere in July! I really hope you will download it and check it out, and please reach out on social media (@falonloveslife everywhere) and let me know what you think!

Here are some links to books/shows/podcasts/fun stuff we referenced in this week’s episode:

I am currently obsessed with the You Must Remember This podcast, which you can find here. And also, don’t forget to read our book club pick, Alex and Eliza, which we will be discussing during our July 6th episode!

This week we drank watermelon cucumber margaritas, which can be made by mixing one shot of tequila, one shot of margarita mix, and two shots of watermelon cucumber juice (found at Trader Joe’s; you can add more or less juice depending on your tastes).

Thank you so much for tuning in and checking us out! Please make sure you subscribe to the Down to Fangirl podcast and leave us some sweet reviews!

DTF Episode One Show Notes

This post contains affiliate links.

Hello friends and fellow nerds! A few weeks ago my geeky/Disney bestie Brianna texted me and asked if I’d ever thought about starting a podcast and I was like uh, hells to the yeah I have, let’s do this. Thus, DTF was born. And it’s Down to Fangirl, get your minds out of the gutter! DTF will be a weekly podcast where Brianna and I talk about all of our favorite things: Harry Potter, Disney, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, musical theater, YA lit–if it’s nerdy, we’re going to talk about it. Each week I will be posting show notes to go along with the podcast episode that will include links to stuff we’ve talked about, drink recipes, photos, all kinds of fun bonus extras. We would LOVE for you to check out Down to Fangirl and please let us know what you think!

For our first episode, we spend a little time doing some get to know you questions and basically just getting you, our lovely listeners, acquainted with us and our show. Then we delve into our recap of the 2017 Tony Awards, which we had some mixed feelings about. Here are some of the books we mentioned during our first episode (all come highly recommended by Brianna and/or me):

In addition to those awesome selections, we also announced our first book club selection, which will be Alex and Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz. We are both super stoked to read this book as we are huge Hamilton fans and we can’t wait to share our thoughts with you on our July 6th episode!

Brianna has been busy listening to the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack, while I have been obsessed with Newsies lately (both the soundtrack and the digital download of their live performance). Both are awesome!

I also mentioned some obscure but worthwhile film experiences to check out. One is the documentary Shakespeare High, which follows real life high school students who participate in one of the country’s longest running theater festivals. Tony host Kevin Spacey is an alum and is featured in the documentary, along with other famous DTASC alumni. I also mentioned the filmed version of Orlando Bloom’s turn as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, in a short-lived Broadway production. The play itself is not great, but he’s gorgeous (obvi).

We had SO MUCH FUN recording our first podcast episode and I cannot wait to bring you more and more fangirl schenanigans over time. Next week’s episode will kick off our Game of Thrones season six recap series to make sure we are all prepped and ready for the season seven premiere next month, so if you need a refresher, make sure you tune in! We would so love it if you would download our first episode and leave us some love! And if you are really digging us, please subscribe! Tune in next week for episode two!
