Hotel Review: Peacock Suites

Hello Disney fans!  Given that I am a local, it might seem odd for me to spend the night at a hotel in the Disneyland area.  But there are certain occasions that warrant a hotel visit, like the Never Land 5k or the 60th kickoff event.  Getting down to the park in the wee hours of the morning is a pain in the butt, so whenever I need to be at the park in the morning, I book a hotel.  Of course my first choice is always to stay on site, but those prices are not usually within my budget, so instead, I opt to stay at an off property hotel that is along the Anaheim Resort Transit (ART) line.  For the past couple of years, we have stayed at the Peacock Suites, located about a mile from the park on Anaheim Blvd.  For us, Peacock Suites is an obvious choice because we are Shell Vacations Club owners and the site is part of our timeshare package so staying here is “free”.  But we have had such great experiences here that I always recommend the site to friends who are staying in the area, even if they aren’t points owners.  Here is a quick tour of the hotel:

The front lobby, where there is free coffee and tea.  There is also a concierge desk here where you can pick up info about the parks and other things to do in the area.  The front desk also sells Disneyland park tickets so you can skip out on the super long lines at the ticket booths in the park.

This is the standard room with two queen beds.  Brianna and I stayed here for the 60th kickoff.  Typically when we are taking the whole fam, as we did for the Never Land 5k, we book a two bedroom suite, which is awesome because we can put Squirt to bed, close the door and not have to worry about waking him up.

One of the best parts about the Peacock Suites is that all rooms come with a living/dining area…

…and a mini kitchen.  When traveling with kids, this kitchen is a lifesaver.  You can warm up milk or formula, wash bottles and dropped binkies, and have a place to keep food cold.  Each kitchenette comes with cups, dishes, utensils, and dish-washing supplies.

The two bedroom suites also come with two bathrooms, which is awesome if you have more than two adults in your group.  This is the bathroom in the standard room.

On site at Peacock Suites, there is also a gift shop, a gym, a pool, and a sun deck.  The best things about this hotel are the in room kitchenettes, the proximity to the ART, and the very friendly and helpful staff.  The two main complaints I have about staying here are the wifi (it’s free, but weak, so you get kicked off a lot) and the valet parking.  It is the only parking option and there is a $10 daily charge.  However, for me, anytime we are traveling with Squirt, this is the place to stay.  The kitchenette makes life so much easier and allows us to save money by saving leftovers and making breakfast in the room.  Plus, in my mind, for anything longer than a one day visit, the ART is the way to travel to the park so being close to a stop is ideal.  If you need a family friendly, conveniently located place to stay for your next trip to the Disneyland Resort, I highly recommend Peacock Suites.
