Hello Disney lovers! Happy Valentine’s Day week! As you know, I never lie to you dear readers and so I will willingly admit that I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day. I have just never really loved the idea of having one day to celebrate love. Why not celebrate it every day? Plus, as a girl who spent several Valentine’s Days single, sometimes it just sucks to see all that love for others and not really feel it yourself. However, I do love all things pink and sparkly and Valentine’s Day has plenty of those, so I can get on board with at least part of the holiday. Thus, my Valentine’s Day Minnie ears!
Want to make your own pair? Here’s how! First, gather your supplies: a headband, pink glitter foam, E6000 glue or a glue gun, a red bow, red heart stickers, pink ribbon, scissors, and an ear template (I got mine here at Inspired by Dis).
Trace two of the ear templates onto the back of your foam. This one comes with adhesive already on it, which makes the whole process way easier.
Cut the ear shapes out of the foam.
Cover your headband with ribbon. The easiest way to do this is to wrap the ribbon around it. Put a dab of glue at one end and then wrap until you get to the other side. Glue down the end of the ribbon so it is secure.
Position the ears on your headband BEFORE you remove the adhesive backing. Check positioning and mark the spot on the headband where you want the ears to be. Also it helps to bend and shape the foam before sticking the ear pieces together.
Attach the heart stickers to the ears. Even though these hearts were stickers, I put a dab of glue on each one to make sure they wouldn’t fall off.
Attach the bow to the center of the headband. Typically I use hot glue to do this, but when I sat down to make these, I couldn’t find my hot glue gun (gasp!). I tried using the E6000 glue, and while it worked fine for the stickers, it was not so great for the bow. So I went on a wild hunt, found my hot glue gun, and used that instead.
Because I tried two methods of gluing, I had a little more mess on the bow than normal, so I glued a large heart sticker to the middle of the bow to hide it. And I’m kind of glad for the mess because I like how the heart looks on the bow.
Here’s the finished product!
If you’re going to be spending Valentine’s Day at the parks, or even if you just want to show your love for Disney, these ears are perfect for the holiday!
