It’s my last week of Winter Break and therefore I have been crafting like a mad woman! Which means, more tutorials for all of you lovely people! Here’s what we are making today!
First, gather your supplies: a plain messenger bag, scissors, a Mickey template (you can find these online super easily), Tulip Glitter Iron On Transfer Sheets, and an iron. (These glitter sheets come in a four pack, I used one of the silver for this and have plans for the rest of them already–I will share when they are done of course!)
Place the Mickey template on the glitter transfer paper, as close to the edge as you can (that way you can use the remaining piece for a future project!).
Trace the outline of the shape onto the paper. It is hard to see, which is good in the long run because you don’t want any black marks showing on your final design.
Very carefully use your scissors (make sure they are good ones) to cut out your Mickey shape. If I had a Cricut. this is where I would plug how awesome it is to be able to just push a button and have the machine cut the shape for you, but they didn’t respond to my application for their blogger program so instead I will advise you to save your $250 and use scissors instead.
Position your Mickey on your bag.
Cover the Mickey with a tea towel or a piece of thin fabric.
Place iron over design for about a minute, making sure you cover all parts of the Mickey. (Note: if you use a different brand of iron on transfer, make sure you follow the directions on your package.)
Carefully remove the towel and check that all parts of the Mickey have adhered to the fabric. If any edges are loose, recover and repeat the ironing process.
And now you have a sweet glitter Mickey messenger bag, perfect for your next trip to the park! I used mine yesterday at Disneyland and it was awesome. I like that it kept my hands free, but it still held everything I need to tote along with me. Make sure you check back next week for my review of Frozen Fun at California Adventure!
