DIY: Pressed Penny Jewelry

I saw these totally awesome pressed penny jewelry ideas a while ago on the Epbot blog and I knew I was going to have to try some designs of my own.  I have two different items I made that I want to share with you today, a necklace and a bracelet.  I am pretty stoked with how both of them came out and I can’t wait to test some more designs in the future.

Here are the steps for the bracelet:

1.  Gather your supplies: jewelry pliers, a Euro punch, jump rings, a leather bracelet (this one is from Michaels), and your pressed penny.

2.  Use the Euro punch to put two holes in the ends of the penny.

3.  Attach a jump ring to each end of the penny.

4.  Use the clips on the bracelet and attach the penny.

5.  Rock your super cool new bracelet!

Seriously, how cool is the bracelet?  I love it, and it was so easy to make.  Plus, you could very easily switch out the pennies for lots of different looks.  Now on to the necklace…

1.  Gather your supplies: jewelry pliers, a Euro punch, jump rings, chain, a clasp, and a penny.

2.  Use the Euro punch to put two holes in the ends of the penny.

3.  Decide on the length you want for your necklace and measure out the chain (I was able to cut this chain with a good pair of scissors).

4.  Fold the chain in half and cut it at the center so you have two equal lengths of chain.

5.  Attach a jump ring to the penny and connect it to one of the chain lengths.  Repeat on the other side of the penny.

6.  Use another jump ring to attach the clasp to one end of the chain.

7.  And another jump ring to attach the ring side of the clasp to the other end of the opposite chain.

8.  Now you are ready to wear your custom Disney pressed penny necklace!

I plan on making a ton more of these babies as they are both super easy.  I can’t wait to collect some more pennies on my next visit to the parks!
